WELCOME TO FERNDOWN BOWLS CLUB

OUR CLUB

Ferndown Bowling Club was founded in 1962 as a Men’s Bowling Club. Later,   Ferndown Ladies’ Bowling Club was formed. In 2009 the two clubs were amalgamated to form Ferndown Bowls Club.

We play traditional English Lawn Bowls with an excellent green (six rinks) maintained by the local council. We boast one of the finest bowling greens in the Bournemouth area, and have an excellent club house where we hold our Social functions. New members and visiting clubs are always very welcome.

We have an active Membership between 80 to 100 Playing, Associate and Social members, as well as a Youth Section and  are affiliated to the following Associations:
Bowls England, Bowls Dorset, B&DBA – Bournemouth and District Bowling Association and B&DWBA – Bournemouth and District Women’s Bowling Association.

At Ferndown Bowls Club, we pride ourselves on our friendly approach to playing bowls.  On a weekly basis, throughout the season, we hold fun competitions and roll ups which cater for all abilities and experience.

That is not to say that there is not a competitive side to the club. There are Ladies and Men’s teams playing in the Bournemouth & District, Dorset Leagues and Percy Baker.

In addition, we organise internal individual and team competitions, some of which are on a mixed basis.  There are  two Open Day’s each year which are well attended.  Our President’s/Charity Day is the highlight of the season. Club competitions are completed on our Finals Day in September with trophies being presented at our End of Season Presentation Luncheon
