President’s / Captains’ day proved to be  one for the memory book. It was great day despite the weather.  Seventy members, family and friends lined up for “Last Man Standing.”  Six teams of eight competing to be the last person in their team to be knocked out.

President Geoff blow the whistle to start us off and the heavens opened. Ten minutes later we were all back competing!. A further 20 minutes later the rain accompanied by wind hammered down.  Third time lucky? The weather did not oblige  so  this time we carried on despite the rain and although dripping wet, laughter and groans could be heard across the green.

During the break, we were treated to a wonderful “Afternoon Tea”, with rounds of delicious sandwiches, wonderful cakes  and scrumptious scones.  A raffle completed the afternoon. Funds raised totalled £400 which have been  donated to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance Service.

Rain prevented a  final play off and it was decided that the winner’s trophy should go to Steve Bendell as the only player who still had two bowls left.

ADRIAN READ representing “AE JOLLIFFE & SON “our Sponsor, presented the trophy to Steve .

Thanks must go to our President/ Men’s Captain, Geoff Cave, and Captains , Sue Aplin, and Nigel Bunton for arranging such a fun afternoon.  Also, a huge thanks to the umpires who adjudicated the ends throughout the afternoon. Finally, thanks also goes to the Social Committee Ladies who provided the food and manned the Kitchen.

Finally, thanks to all the members who helped make this a day to remember!!!
